So, this is my first post in english for my new readers, I’ll be going bilingual!
I was talking to my husband about all the criticism that people who love or work in fashion get on a regular basis. It makes me wonder, am I superficial because I believe in the power of a good outfit? Was Gabrielle Chanel superficial when she started wearing trousers and said goodbye to corsets? I already know the answer to this question but, do people understand that fashion is more than an industry?
Every morning, you make a choice in front of your closet (or in my case the night before – I love sleeping more than I love fashion). You stand there and, in some cases, you pick something that makes you feel more empowered or confident, perhaps because of that big meeting or that awesome job you want. Maybe it’s just jeans and a tee but it’s your choice, it’s your decision and that’s the way you’ll introduce yourself to the world that day. That is style, what you’re picking out of that collection of clothes. Fashion is everywhere. It’s not only the skinny model on the cover of a magazine (Thankfully that’s changing) or that fabulous runway show, but the power of choosing daily who you are that day. Clothes make you powerful! Never forget it.
“What you wear is how you present yourself to the world, especially today, when human contacts are so quick. Fashion is instant language.” —Miuccia Prada.
